5282 Series 5: Episode 2
12th October 2026
Frank Sidebottom, John Shuttleworth
Do you love the bossa nova preset of the Yamaha PSS-680? Do you spend endless nights colouring in bits of old cardboard with felt tips? Perhaps you feel the music industry is fundamentally unfair and there is no sane explanation of the top 40?
If you have not done so already, take refuge in the world of John Shuttleworth and shed of Frank Sidebottom. Who lives near Altrincham and has met Mark Radcliffe, y' know, that bloke off the radio.
Kevin and Dave discuss the origins and careers of these eccentric and to some baffling comic creations (proper Marmite). There is even a stab at 'meaning', but you could skip that bit at the end and go listen to "I Can't Go Back to Savoury Now" and "Anarchy in Timperley", for starters.
Listen to the episode.

It has been pointed out that everything is interconnected. The Nosebleeds Rick Sarko went on to The Freshies. Nosebleeds drummer Toby Toman was acquainted with Nico. AI search engines have turned up nothing about what Nico thought about Frank Sidebottom.
